Database Community

When the DOAG was founded in 1988, it consisted almost exclusively of administrators. This has left a lasting mark on the membership structure of the DOAG. Nowadays it is still the most represented community of the DOAG and offers a comprehensive program on all issues concerning the database, year after year.

The Database Community takes into account all aspects of Oracle database products ranging from installation to configuration and tuning. They help community members to acquire a sound knowledge that makes their daily work routine easier for them.

Even though the focus is traditionally on the Oracle database, the Database Community has expanded their range of services to include more issues such as the integration of Oracle databases in SAP environments.  It also provides support to the arguably most popular open source database in the world: MySQL.

The Database Community organizes one-day events in the form of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) on a regular basis. Once a year, when the DOAG Conference + Exhibition takes place, they set up the stream "Database". Technical topics on databases will be taken up during the expert seminars in Berlin several times a year. Despite the clearly defined separation between the communities, it is inevitable that trans-disciplinary topics will come up: The Database Community makes it their habit to think outside the box and cooperates with other working groups to ensure the best possible support for their members.
