Richard Sarwal brings more than 15 years of industry experience with a proven track record of database and system management skills covering the critical areas of scalability, availability and performance, to his role as senior vice president of Server Performance for Oracle Corporation. Mr. Sarwal is responsible for the development of manageability features in the Oracle Database and leads a team of engineers who oversee Diagnostic and Defect Resolution (DDR) for the Oracle Database. Additonally, he manages Oracle's technology demo systems, providing the systems, software and demos used by the field sales organizations around the world to demonstrate the Oracle Database, Oracle Application Server and Oracle Collaboration Suite. Mr. Sarwal's team is also responsible for curriculum development, producing all training material for the Oracle Database, Oracle Application Server and Oracle Collaboration Suite.

Prior to joining Oracle in 1989, Mr. Sarwal began his career as a programmer, DBA and systems engineer.

Mr. Sarwal attended St. Xaviers College at Calcutta University, India, where he earned a bachelor's degree in commerce.
