Bill Pataky has an extensive background in software development tools and platforms spanning three decades.
As an engineer, Bill contributed to the development of multi-level secure operating systems at Addamax and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. He pioneered the development and deployment of high-availability technologies for life-critical global systems as a software architect at Aeronautical Radio (ARINC).
At Silicon Graphics , Pataky was responsible for the IRIX operating system as well as the MIPSpro software development tools. Moving to Sun Microsystems, Pataky repositioned the Java Platform in terms of performance, introducing the Java HotSpot Virtual Machine and later managing the Java Platform Standard Edition. After his tenure at Sun, Pataky grew Borland’s software development tools business which included JBuilder, the then-leading Java IDE to over $100M. At SAP, he built a global developer program based on collaborative innovation. Recently, Pataky has been involved with a number of start-ups including The Level, a multi-lingual knowledge management firm in Vancouver and is a founder of Verity Properties, a commercial real-estate firm based in Silicon Valley.
Bill holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, a Master of Business Administration from the College of William & Mary and has done advanced graduate studies at the London Business School.
