At my talk last year at DOAG, the big news was Exadata V1. I talked about Exadata V1 delivering 10x better performance for our Data Warehousing customers. Over the last year, we have more than proven the extreme performance of Exadata V1 with customers seeing 10x - 50x better performance on their Data Warehouses. This year, the big news for my talk at DOAG is the announcement of Exadata V2 and the release of Oracle Database 11g Release 2. For Exadata V2, I will describe how we have improved the performance for our Data Warehousing customers by at least another factor of 2 and extended Exadata to also provide extreme performance for OLTP workloads. Oracle Database 11g Release 2 completes our Oracle Database 11g family of releases. In the current economic environment, all our customers are interested in becoming more productive and lowering their costs. I will talk about how Database 11g Release 2 provides exciting new innovations to help customers become more productive and lower their costs.

The word "cloud" has entered the dictionary of computing terms, but it still seems to have 101 meanings! Dr Sutherland will explore the emerging types of cloud and which ones appear to be winning favour. He will discuss their workings and how Oracle's product direction helps those who are interested in contructing a "private cloud" in their organisations.

How can wie break out of the vicious cycle caused by buggy software, and instead build wildly successful applications? First, we have to agree on what it means for an application to be successful. Then we need to map out the key processes and techniques that will help us guarantee that success. This presentation identifies three main criteria of success (our code must be correct, fast enough and maintainable) and then offers ideas to automate the code testing process, optimize performance, and reduce the cost of maintenance.
