Indiana Nimphius und der JavaScript Tempel des Todes

JavaScript is set to become the world’s most popular programming language as it starts knocking on enterprise application development doors. Statistics from sites like GitHub, DZone and StackOverflow show an increasing interest in JavaScript with a very young and active community supporting it. New JavaScript frameworks and libraries appear out of the blue like mushrooms in a misty forest, spawning lots of fan-boy discussions on the internet. As an enterprise application developer most likely you already have programming language of choice (PL/SQL, Java, PHP, C++ or alike), developed your skills over the years and also set up an infrastructure to support it. Chances are you might be keeping your head down and ignore the JavaScript excitement hoping it will pass you by until the point you retire. So why should you care? The reason you should care is that without an open mind you risk missing out on opportunities for your business or wait until it is too late for you to catch this train. This session is a first look at enterprise application development with JavaScript. It’s not a technical training on JavaScript programming but sheds a light on the trend towards JavaScript in enterprise application development, a selection of JS frameworks like AngularJS, JQuery, React, Ionic, Polymer and Oracle JET, and the opportunities at hand for building applications for mobile, cloud and the web. The session also talks about development trends and architectures in mobile and cloud application development that are based on JavaScript though not necessarily exposed to developers. Every journey starts with a first step - this is mine and it could become yours!
