Practical Active Session History for Developers

Active Session History (ASH) data significantly changed how we can do database performance tuning when it was introduced in 10g, and with each release of the database it captures more information and we can do more with it. This presentation will briefly touch on the basic principles and then move to look at some examples from real-life where directly mining ASH data pointed the way to the root, causing some interesting problems. The key message here is that ASH is not just for the DBA, but it is something that developers should be accustomed to use.
