For the third edition of the Java Conference more than 1,200 participants are expected. At Phantasialand Bruehl near Cologne, they will learn from one another and share their experiences on the latest trends in the Java environment. JavaLand, one of the largest Java Conferences in Europe, will take place from March 8th to 10th, 2016.

Tuesday morning was the start: With a loud "Jatumba" the Java community called for a re-population of JavaLand. For three days, Phantasialand becomes the center of the Java community. The extensive conference program awaits the visitors with more than 100 presentations, eight streams and a variety of community activities. During the subsequent training day on March 10th, the participants can deepen their knowledge in seven seminars. The conference is organized by DOAG Dienstleistungen GmbH in cooperation with Heise Medien.

A highlight of the event: The two-day conference program with numerous international and national top speakers, including Bruno Borges, David Blevins, Kirk Pepperdine, Hendrik Ebbers, Stephen Chin and Holly Cummins, who are all very active in the Java scene. The program covers the seven areas "Core Java and JVM based languages", "Architecture & Security", "Enterprise Java & Cloud", "IDEs & Tools", "Frontend & Mobile", "Internet of Things" and "Container and Micro Services".

Adam Gowdiak, CEO and founder of the startup "Security Explorations" will be there on Wednesday as keynote speaker. As an experienced hacker of the Java Virtual Machine, he has unveiled more than 100 security issues in recent years. In his keynote on "Java (In)Security" he analyzes the most important issues for the safety of the Java platform and also shares his experience with Java-based software from Oracle, IBM, Google and Apple with the participants.

The new Newcomer Stream will add a fresh breeze to the conference program: Ten developers, who have never taken a conference stage before, will be celebrating their debut on Tuesday and share their expertise with an audience for the first time. Renowned mentors from the Java scene will attend to them, including Charles Nutter, Roland Huss and Anton Arhipov.

"We are pleased that we were able to commit many high-profile speakers from Germany and abroad for the JavaLand 2016 and that the Newcomer Stream will provide for both new speakers as well as new impetus," said Markus Eisele, head of the conference program.

Fifteen community activities that were created in cooperation with numerous Java User Groups offer fun and opportunities for participation on the first two days of the event: Whether in the workshops "Architecture Kata", "Coding Dojo" or "Code Shrink", in the "Java Innovation Lab" or in the "Early Adopters' Area". These and other sessions offer something for everyone. The focus is clearly laid on learning from each other and exchanging experiences.

There will be many opportunities for networking in the accompanying exhibition with 30 exhibitors, but especially during the traditional evening event on Tuesday night, where a variety of rides will be open exclusively for participants.

"JavaLand 2016 offers a unique mix of community-based expertise, fun and technology. The renewed increase in visitors is a great honor for the work of all people involved," says Fried Saacke, CEO of iJUG.

The date for the JavaLand 2017 is already set: It will take place from March 28th to March 30th, 2017 at Phantasialand in Bruehl.
