We have been looking out for further JavaLand 2024 lecture highlights for you.

We have already presented some of the highlights of the diverse program in recent weeks. Now we are looking at more great talks from the JavaLand 2024 agenda:

In his talk "Modern Java in Action", Nicolai Parlog will demonstrate the significant evolution of Java, resulting in code that is very different from its previous versions. In this live coding session, a GitHub crawler will be created using the latest features of Java 21. These include the incorporation of virtual threads, pattern matching and data-oriented programming, the integration of a modern http client, new templates and many other features.

Mistakes are part of learning. Tom Asel believes that the goal is not to be error-free, but to recognize errors as early as possible. In his presentation "Im Prinzip gut! Fehlerbewusstsein bei der Architekturarbeit", he explains that principles play an important role in architecture work, as they provide guidance and sharpen the focus. Under the concept of "Continuous Architecture", six simple principles are presented that help to recognize unfavorable developments at an early stage. The session presents these principles for agile architecture work and shows how they can be applied in your own projects to correct mistakes at an early stage.

The next talk describes the evolution of Hibernate, in particular the release of Hibernate 6.0, which brought many simplifications and new APIs, including the use of records, the implementation of JPA 3, the use of CTEs in queries, and the mapping of JSON and other structured types to Java classes. Since version 6.3, Hibernate can generate the code required to execute queries on demand, and in some cases even the query itself. The presentation "Alles neu macht Hibernate 6" by Thorben Janssen offers an overview of the most interesting innovations in Hibernate 6.0 and further versions.

Explore the world of quantum computers! This session offers an exciting talk on the basics of quantum computer programming. Walery Strauch will explain what a quantum computer is, how it works and how it can solve today's seemingly unsolvable problems. You will also gain insights into how quantum bits (qubits) work and learn how to gain practical experience with the latest tools and platforms. Whether you are a developer, scientist or simply curious about the future of computers – the lecture "Einführung in die Quantencomputer-Programmierung" will expand your knowledge and answer your questions.

"Guter Code – Eine Motivation" invites you to reflect on the importance of high-quality and maintainable code in the open source sector. Maintainability, servicing and expansion of code are crucial for the success, stability and security of projects. René Schwietzke's talk aims to encourage you to think about the structure of your own code, APIs and their tests. Code examples from the JDK and the open source environment will be looked at, but this is not a clean code talk. It is intended to encourage discussion and reflection on the quality of your own code
