When I started my career as a consultant 25 years ago, contact with DOAG was practically a given through my employer. Around the same time, I also began working with MySQL as a database administrator. Since then, this product has been part of my daily work, alongside many other database products, and my enthusiasm for it keeps growing. I am therefore very pleased that in November 2011, together with Volker Oboda, I was entrusted with building up the SIG MySQL. In my day-to-day work I often come across prejudices against MySQL, which can usually be dispelled quickly with the right facts and information. My goal is to provide comprehensive information about the use cases of MySQL and to increase its adoption, including in “professional” and business-critical environments. Beyond that, I hope that this SIG will become a platform that is of great interest to both MySQL beginners and experts. I work for ORDIX AG, an independent IT services provider. My main focus is databases, especially Oracle and MySQL. I share my many years of database know-how as a consultant and developer in customer projects and as a trainer in seminars.
